Lagos is an ancient maritime town and one of the most visited cities in the Algarve, due to its beaches, bars and restaurants and its nightlife.

Things to do in Lagos:

There are many activities and lots of sightseeing to do in in Lagos

Mini Golf

A family friendly outdoor mini golf adventure for all ages and just stone’s throw away from the centre of Lagos. There is an 8 hole course for children and 18 holes for adults. Open all year round, including winter months.

There isn’t just mini golf available, serious golfers also attend to practice.

Beaches

There are many beaches around the Lagos area including;

Praia do Camilo, Meia Praia, and Pinhao Beach

Forte Ponta da Bandeira

Fortress remains built in the 17th century and in still pretty good condition is easily accessible and overlooks a shallow bay.

Excursions

There are any excursions available from the marina at Lagos, if you did decide you wanted to something last minute. Many of the excursions including boat tours, sightseeing and wine tasting.

Zoo De Lagos

Lagos Zoo has over 150 different species of animals for you to visit. The zoo has public feeding times for the animals such as, penguins and lemurs.

Burgau

Burgau is a little fishing village situated between Lagos and Sagres. The village is very popular with tourists, the beach will never been really busy.

How to get from Praia Da Luz to Burgau:

Walk: 35 minutes
Car: 6 minutes
Taxi / Uber: 6 minutes (€4 – €6)

Things to do in Burgau:

Like Praia Da Luz, there isn’t much to do in Burgau other than the beach and some lovely restaurants. It’s great for a day trip, to sit on the beach and then to head to the Beach Bar (it is directly on the beach) and watch the sun set whilst eating fantastic food.

TIP: Burgau is all on a hill and the sea is at the bottom. Please be aware if you are a little unsteady on your feet.

Salema

Salema is another quaint and quiet seaside village in the Algarve with an amazing beach, lots of lovely restaurants and to top it all off it has actual real life footprints.

How to get from Praia Da Lux to Salema:

Bus
Time: 5 mins, bus runs 6 times a day (€2 – €4)

Taxi / Uber: 12 minutes (€9 – €15)

Things to do in Salema:

Beach

This beach is perfect for swimming and wind surfing because of its high standard of water quality.

Watch the fisherman

There is no longer a marketplace at the entrance of the beach where the fisherman use to sell their fish but you will find the fishers gathering their catches such as Seabass, Octopus, sardines and loads more!

Dinosaur footsteps

At the western end of beach there are rocks that dates back to over 150 million years old but amongst these there are red Quatemary Strata and this is where you will the footprints.

Slide & Splash is exactly what is says on the tin. A big waterpark for all ages, with lots of attractions, slides and live shows of birds and reptiles throughout the door. There are lockers available for you to leave your belongings when in the park, sun loungers if the slides aren’t for you and also lots of restaurants and cafes to feed everyone, even the fussy eaters!
